When asked about the impact that DSP has had on my college experience over the past three years, I always tell people that this organization was my first entry point into the greater Vanderbilt community. I have had the privilege of having the most remarkable professional, personal, and academic experiences because of the brothers in this chapter, and I truly believe that DSP attracts the most extraordinary and hard-working individuals. More importantly, DSP has become a place that I can call home, and I am forever grateful to have found such a community.
Vanderbilt is an incredible place, but it can be extremely overwhelming no matter what year you are. Throughout the school year, and for the rest of DSP’s tenure on Vanderbilt’s campus, I want every person that interacts with this organization to feel the same sense of belonging that I felt when I joined and still feel today. So, I hope you know that DSP can be a home for you- one that helps fuel your professional goals and cultivates a distinct sense of self. Welcome to DSP.
Warmly,
Omari Rivers | Class of 2024
Here at DSP we emphasize scholarship, professionalism, service, and brotherhood.
Scholarship
Scholarship is an important part of every chapter in Delta Sigma Pi, but especially here at Vanderbilt. It’s not scholarship in the traditional sense because as Vanderbilt students, we understand how to be successful academically. Our university does not have a business major, so DSP plays an essential role to educate our chapter about business and gives us a system we need to discover our passions. Brothers mentor each other, prepare for interviews together, and help educate the chapter about skills that are important in the business world.
Professionalism
Professionalism
Members of the Omicron Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi exemplify professionalism and maturity in both their personal lives and career. In our recruitment process, we seek out individuals who idealize these characteristics and the activities of our chapter are designed to polish our skills. Through continuous professional development activities, including resume workshops, interview workshops, and hosting guest speakers from nationally and internationally recognized companies, our members are wholly prepared to foster growth and success in businesses.
Service
Service
Community service is a core value for the brothers of Delta Sigma Pi at Vanderbilt and we are pleased to say we have won the Provincial Outstanding Community Service Award. We hold a variety of community service events each semester such as making dinner for residents of the local Ronald McDonald House, holding workshops for high school students interested in business, volunteering at Habitat for Humanity, and more. We have also partnered with local employers such as Deloitte and Caterpillar Financial Services to serve the community together. DSP is always looking for new ways to serve and make a difference.
Brotherhood
Brotherhood
As a professional business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi focuses on supporting brothers holistically. This includes through engagement and brotherhood. Formally, Delta Sigma Pi hosts numerous chapter-wide events from dinners to date parties. In addition, Delta Sigma Pi has structured programs like "Lunch with a Brother" where younger brothers are able to meet and engage with older brothers. Informally, brothers consistently support each other at non-DSP related events and love to explore the city of Nashville together. Delta Sigma Pi has a unique emphasis on brotherly relations and personal development outside of the rigorous business and professional development aspects of the fraternity.
